Critical Theory and Critical Genres †Free Samples to Students

Question: Talk about the Critical Theory and Critical Genres. Answer: Presentation: Moral hypotheses can assume basic jobs in clarifying the moral dynamic. The moral speculations have been created to clarify what one or gathering of individuals takes to accomplish morals in various circumstances (Waller, 2010). This paper will break down the job of moral dynamic utilizing two moral hypotheses. So as to accomplish the outcome, the paper will utilize a contextual investigation of ladies who are encountering viciousness executed by their male accomplices. The hypotheses additionally help to clarify the thinking about the gatherings and bolster the dynamic procedure. This gathering needs to settle on key moral choices so as to address the issues confronting them (Henning, 2015). Simultaneously, the gathering needs to control the feelings and responses to guarantee that they settle on moral choices. This paper will take a gander at the job of the utilitarianism and deontology moral hypotheses the executives in affecting the dynamic for the referenced gathering (Cranmer N hemachena, 2013). These speculations will give distinctive recommendation on taking care of the viciousness circumstance and aiding in accomplishing bliss. The utilitarianism hypothesis expresses that reasonable decisions must be executed in guaranteeing that least measure of damage is accomplished for various gatherings (Mill In Bailey, 2016). This hypothesis expresses that the strategy taken doesn't make a difference and just the assessment of the result is significant. The choice is normally made corresponding to the assessed result and damage which will be caused in every one of the choice taken. Toward the end, the choice with less mischief will be viewed as moral under this hypothesis. By the by, the expense of the activity and choice doesn't make a difference when this hypothesis is taken. This implies some deceptive circumstance might be taken over the span of accomplishing the greater advantage. The circumstance of ladies under brutality of their male accomplices will undoubtedly have various choices which host various impacts to all gatherings included. The utilitarianism hypothesis can help the ladies in dissecting the circumstances and along these lines ready to impact the choice which they will take (Bykvist, 2010). For example, separate for the ladies is typically a choice or in any event, remaining on the relationship for the kids. Furthermore, the brutality circumstances are on occasion more terrible and may allow the ladies to removing the lives of the men to spare themselves. All these alternative are reasonable choices which the ladies can take. All these are arrangements and as per utilitarianism hypothesis, the last course of every choice is the thing that will decide the choice to be taken. For example, if the savagery circumstance includes serious wounds which may prompt demise, the utilitarianism hypothesis may allow removing the live of the man associated with the course of self preservation. Also, if the savagery stretches out to the undermining of the lives of the kids and lady included, removing the lives of the ma n to spare the youngsters and ladies will be allowed under this hypothesis (Luppicini IGI Global, 2013)). The hypothesis will consider that numerous lives were spared in the cost of one live, which will have a positive effect and advantage. Albeit a moral deed may occur in the choice taken, the hypothesis is progressively centered around the circumstance and effect under which the choice was made (Brandt, 2010). On the off chance that the general advantage of the activity is more than the submitted deceptive deed, the hypothesis holds that the dishonest deed will have less effect. The activity of murdering the spouse to shield the kids and lady from savagery which may prompt their demise is allowed and worthy. The status of the family without the man in the family will be considered also. This implies the choice taken should prompt a cheerful end course for all the gatherings in question. Also, the final product of the included gatherings is a key thought which is made when this hypothesis is thought of. The joy for the entire family including the youngsters will be exceptionally viewed as when the choice is being made. Moral choice will break down the impact of the savagery and commitment of each gathering to the joy of the family (Milner Browitt, 2013). For example, the savagery might be activated by some conduct of the lady whereby even the youngsters are being influenced. In this sense, the viciousness will be allowed to address the conduct for the benefit of all of the family the board. The result of the activity is significant than the focal positions and moves which might be made. So if the lady has some key issues which drives brutality the hypothesis may allow proceeded with viciousness as long the same number of the relatives are glad. What is important in this procedure is the advantages which will be accomplished when certain course of moves are made. Likewise, because of savagery, separate is another key alternative which might be considered by the gatherings. In any case, this hypothesis will require key thought of the result of the separation choice (Riley, 2009). The hypothesis will take a gander at various viewpoints for this situation which may incorporate the joy of the family and last money related circumstance. In the event that for example the separation will prompt budgetary complexity which may influence the prosperity of the youngsters and the relatives, the hypothesis will believe the choice as not fit to be taken. This is on the grounds that the result of the choice isn't prompting any satisfaction of prosperity of the gatherings in question. The ultimate result of the separation circumstance in this manner will require clear examination (Huemer, 2008).). On the off chance that the separation influences the joy and circumstance of the relatives, at that point the hypothesis will consider having the lady encountering the savagery than seeking after the separation. In this manner this hypothesis will assume a significant job on move which will be made to benefit the family (Duncan, 2012). Moral choice will be hoping to make the vast majority of the relatives cheerful and along these lines the choice will rely upon number of individuals who are glad when certain choices are taken. The more noteworthy advantage of the circumstance is typically thought of. Also, the utilitarianism hypothesis can think about the result of the choice administration. The moral result and the one with more prominent advantage to many are generally considered in settling on the choice. The choice by the lady under viciousness will in this way be affected by the significant advantages which a considerable lot of the relatives will have the option to appreciate. The result and advantages which the lady, man and kids will have the option to appreciate will shape the premise of the moral choice which must be taken. Moreover, another hypothesis which can be considered in settling on moral choices is the deontology hypothesis. This hypothesis considers to a great extent the outcomes of key activities and accepts of people (Darwall, 2003). Additionally, the moral choice made ought to have the option to adjust to specific duties and commitments. In addition, under this hypothesis, moral duty can outperform every other explanation. Accordingly the choice made ought to have the option to help the ethical obligation of the people notwithstanding to what must be done to accomplish the ethical duty. By and by this hypothesis is just restricted to moral mindful circumstances where people need to cling to specific duties to accomplish their commitments set upon them. The hypothesis to a great extent centers around the end moral duty without concentrating in transit which the middle of the road choices are taken (Griffiths, 2011). The transitional choice may dishonest however the last end is moral. The end moral item is the thing that issues through this hypothesis. Under the instance of a lady who is abused by the man, the deontology will concentrate on the point of the lady (Shafer-Landau, 2013). For example, if the lady is hanging on the man so as to take care of the kids, at that point it will be viewed as appropriate for her to stick on the man who damages her so as to take care of the kids. Since it the ethical option to have the kids to obtain their fundamental needs, the hypothesis will see no issue with the viciousness being experienced. It will concentrate to a great extent on the final products which is good duty to give the fundamental needs to the youngsters. The arrangement of the essential needs to the youngsters whenever set upon the lady will be viewed as alright if the man is the wellspring of such needs (Melden, 2013). It will be in this manner a moral choice to guarantee that the youngsters have the necessary needs and not just considering at the methods which the requirements are being accomplished. Consequently under this c ircumstance, the deontology hypothesis will bolster the keeps an eye on activity of viciousness to the lady. On the off chance that it is the obligation of the lady to give to her youngsters, at that point it will be viewed as that she can stay aware of the male accomplice who abuses her to guarantee that she feed her kids. The obligation is subsequently more significant in this hypothesis than the manner in which it is being accomplished. The deontology hypothesis will concentrate on what should be achieved by the choice (Russell, Melberg Pluciennik, 2014). The lady in this manner can have the option to stay with the brutality so as to accomplish some key obligation. The choice on managing viciousness will rely upon the ethical duties which might be accomplished by family because of the savagery accessible. The hypothesis won't to a great extent center around the savagery however the various outcomes and good duties being given by the various gatherings. This hypothesis can thusly have the option to help the savagery as long as the man can hold the ethical duty to the family. The hypothesis will thusly consider the womans leaving the marriage because of the savagery as individual narrow-mindedness. The hypothesis will concentrate on how enormous the man can respect the obligation of taking care of the family and what may occur if the man isn't accessible. Cultural standards can direct the situation of the moral choice which will be made. In the event that the lady is staying with the male accomplice to m

The Ins and Outs of Assessment Essay Example for Free

The Ins and Outs of Assessment Essay What is an Assessment? As I pose myself this inquiry, recollections from my instructive experience cross my thoughts. I am compelled to review numerous tests, tests and dread that have implanted my psyche with a terrible feeling of tension. The dread, I accept, is the reason for the idea that I may not exceed expectations in the exercise that I had been educated. At that point I ask myself, is that what an evaluation was intended to achieve? Through my readings, I have discovered that an appraisal is an instructive procedure that requires documentation of information that an understudy has gotten from an exercise. The documentation of the evaluation can be founded on the individual understudy or the class all in all. Appraisals are an assortment of information so as to enhance the instructive advancement of a student. Appraisals likewise help improve the learning guidelines and benchmarks inside the homeroom. This training will permit me, as an instructor, to improve my showing capacity and advance as a superior teacher. I have additionally learned, through my readings, what an evaluation isn't. An evaluation isn't a ultimate objective that decides a student’s instructive worth in a branch of knowledge. Appraisals are by all account not the only information that is utilized in assessing the advancement of an understudy in a specific program of study. The way toward surveying students’ progress is just pointless when the assessment is done inadequately. In the event that this training doesn't reflect objectives and estimations of specific teaches, the evaluation ought to be reconsidered. There are two primary classifications of evaluation: summative and developmental. Summative appraisals are utilized to assess how viable an instructional program has been to understudy. This appraisal is normally given toward the finish of a specific exercise, unit or scholastic year. Summative appraisals are utilized to make a judgment of the competency of an understudy after a specific exercise has been finished. This assessment is given to decide whether a student has aced a particular norm or benchmark. It is likewise regulated so as to distinguish regions of guidance that may require extra consideration or change. Such evaluations are given as government sanctioned test that ordinarily have a solitary score. Summative appraisals are commonly a decent assessment for teachers and educational systems, nonetheless; such information doesn't separately mirror the mistaken assumptions that may impede a learner’s potentialâ evolvement. Developmental evaluation is utilized to improve instructional techniques and understudy input all through the educating and learning process. Developmental assessments are acted in a continuous, bit by bit technique so as to watch a student’s handle of an idea. This procedure is exhibited by on-going evaluations, just as, audits and perceptions in the homeroom setting. Through an instructors perceptions, the educator can recreate the instructional methodology as soon as possible, so as to guarantee the approval on the exercise. Developmental appraisals might be managed as tests or execution assignments in the study hall. Surveying a student developmentally considers more maintenance of the instructional material, and a superior handle on expanding upon that material. Appraisal desires wanted by teachers are the adequacy of the result. I believe that an educator ought to make progress toward each student’s capacity. In arriving at this objective, educators must set sensible desires for the understudies that one may instruct. In defining objectives for the understudies, understudies must have an away from of what is anticipated from the guidance and exercises. I accept that every desire that is set for an understudy ought to take after that specific child’s capacity and need. Every desire ought to be an impression of a student’s earlier information and the instructional association among idea and practice. Practicing reasonable desires inside the study hall can be effectively settled through the motivations behind appraisals. Educators offer appraisals to understudies to recognize territories of shortcoming which can bring about the assurance to give better instructing guidance. There are four purposes for appraisal of understudies: Monitoring understudy progress, settling on instructional choices, assessing understudy accomplishment and assessing progress. The primary reason for evaluation is observing understudy progress. In the wake of setting reasonable desires, information ought to be arranged to give the understudy and educator input about the movement of the desires that were set. This evaluation design is a ceaseless procedure that may bring about formal or casual information. This information, be that as it may; can prompt the individual movement of every understudy. The second reason for appraisal is settling on instructional choices. Educators will utilize gathered information of students’ comprehension to change training forms so as to give better guidance to the understudy. All together for the instructor to alter the instructional undertakings for an understudy, the educator will watch the understudy. This perception will permit the teacher to comprehend the manner in which the specific understudy thinks and applies guidance; hence, making the guidance fit the youngster, as opposed to fitting the kid to the guidance. The third reason for appraisal is assessing understudy accomplishment. In assessing a student’s accomplishment, an educator will inspect the understudy and gain an educated judgment on the ground the understudy is acquiring. The judgment depends on the capacities of that specific understudy as opposed to in contrast with different understudies in the class. This permits the understudy to get a progressively individualized assessment that thinks about the objectives that are set for the person in question. The fourth reason for appraisal is assessing programs. This appraisal is an assembled assessment of the class, all in all, so as to make adjustments to the guidance given to the understudies. These adjustments will permit understudies to, set elevated standards, however meet exclusive standards too. It is my supposition that adjustments in appraisals need to create so as to keep such assessments in accordance with change endeavors. A portion of the evaluations that are utilized today appear to be dated and may not give right approval of a student’s understanding. Evaluating a student’s instructive potential is a collective endeavor for all that are associated with the training of a youngster. Appraisals for watching students’ training, making instructional decisions, and assessing a student’s accomplishments have been in the hands of study hall instructors, though evaluations for gaging programs have been upheld by offices outside the homeroom. I accept that appraisals for all reasons should be progressively powerless and common; which means, teachers ought to be associated with the evaluation procedure for all reasons. The essential duty regarding evaluation must be a mutual exertion in the event that it is to address the issues of today’s understudies.

For instance, during this period, a child learns how to speak, how to use the toilet, how to greet visitors and how to walk, just to mention a few. Teachers score poorly compared to parents when it comes to the role of teaching children best practices. The reason behind this is that teachers handle several children at once. What Is Red Mercury Explanations of the Term

The science newsgroups have been abuzz with tales of a 2-kiloton yield Russian red mercury fusion device, theoretically in the possession of terrorists. This, of course, prompts the questions: What is red mercury? The answer to this question depends largely on who you ask. Is red mercury real? Absolutely, but definitions vary. Cinnabar/vermillion is the most common answer. However, the Russian tritium fusion bomb is more interesting. What Is Red Mercury? Cinnabar/VermillionCinnabar is naturally occurring mercuric sulfide (HgS), while vermillion is the name given to the red pigment derived from either natural or manufactured cinnabar.Mercury (II) IodideThe alpha crystalline form of mercury (II) iodide is called red mercury, which changes to the yellow beta form at 127 C.Any Red-Colored Mercury Compound Originating in RussiaRed can also be used in the Cold War definition of red, meaning communist. It is doubtful that anyone today is using red mercury in this manner, but its a possible interpretation.A Ballotechnic Mercury Compound Presumably Red in ColorBallotechnics are substances that react very energetically in response to high-pressure shock compression. Googles Sci.Chem group has had a lively ongoing discussion about the possibility of an explosive form of mercury antimony oxide.According to some reports, red mercury is a cherry-red semi-liquid that is produced by irradiating elemental mercury with mercury antimony oxide in a Russ ian nuclear reactor. Some people think that  red mercury is so explosive that it can be used to trigger a fusion reaction in tritium or a deuterium-tritium mixture. Pure fusion devices dont require fissionable material, so its easier to get the materials needed to make one and easier to transport said materials from one place to another.Other reports refer to a documentary in which it was possible to read a report on Hg2Sb207, in which the compound had a density of 20.20 Kg/dm3. It is plausible that mercury antimony oxide, as a low-density powder, may be of interest as a ballotechnic material. The high-density material seems unlikely. It would also seem unreasonably dangerous (to the maker) to use a ballotechnic material in a fusion device. One intriguing source mentions a liquid explosive, HgSbO, made by DuPont laboratories and listed in the international chemical register as number 20720-76-7.  A Military Code Name for a New Nuclear MaterialThis definition originates f rom the extraordinarily high prices commanded and paid for a substance called red mercury that was manufactured in Russia. The price ($200,000-$300,000 per kilogram) and trade restrictions were consistent with a nuclear material as opposed to cinnabar.

A Collection of Zulu Proverbs

Much of Africas history has been passed on through the generations orally. One consequence of this is that traditional wisdom has been crystallized in the form of proverbs. Zulu Proverbs Here is a collection of proverbs attributed to the Zulu of South Africa. You can learn wisdom at your grandfathers feet, or at the end of a stick.Meaning: If you pay attention to what your elders are telling you and follow their advice, you wont have to learn things the hard way through experience. If you dont absorb what they have to say, you will have to learn your lessons by making mistakes and accepting the often-painful consequences.A walking man builds no kraal.Meaning: A kraal is a homestead. If you keep moving, you wont settle down or be forced to settle down. You can not know the good within yourself if you can not see it in others.Meaning: If you want to build self-esteem, you need to practice looking for good qualities in others and appreciating them. This in itself is a virtue, which will build goodness in you. When you bite indiscriminately, you end up eating your own tail.Meaning: Think before you act, especially when acting out of anger or fear. Plan your actions carefully so you dont make things worse. The lion is a beautiful animal  when s een at a distance.Meaning: Things arent always as they seem at first glance, so be careful what you wish for; it may not be what is best for you.The bones must be thrown in three different places before the message must be accepted.Meaning: This refers to a divination ritual; you should consider a question multiple times in multiple ways before reaching a decision.Guessing breeds suspicion.Meaning: When you dont have all of the facts, you may come to false conclusions or experience paranoia. Its better to wait for solid evidence.Even immortals are not immune to fate.Meaning: Nobody is too big to take a fall. Your wealth, intelligence, and success wont protect you from random negative events. You cannot fight an evil disease with sweet medicine.Meaning: Fight fire with fire rather than turning the other cheek. This proverb advises war over diplomacy and not showing mercy to an enemy.Old age doesnt announce itself at the gate of the kraal.Meaning: Old age sneaks up on you; it doesnt si mply arrive one day when you are expecting it.Almost doesnt fill a bowl.Meaning: You dont get partial credit for a failure; you will still suffer the consequences of the failure. Essay on Alcoholics Anonymous Support Group Report

Alcoholics Anonymous Support Group Report Liberty University Alcoholics Anonymous Support Group Report Group therapy has evolved so much that the participant are learning how to help themselves and others. Self-help groups are one of the most popular forms of group therapy. One of the most known self-help groups is Alcoholics Anonymous also known as A.A. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is an international organization produced to assist alcoholics to recover and live alcohol free lives. It was founded by Bill Wilson and Robert Holbrook Smith in 1935. It is a program, complete with twelve steps and twelve traditions, that was put together to help addicts†¦show more content†¦Overall, the participants were of all ages, ethnicities, and there was an even amount of men and women. I noticed that the participants did not look like what I perceived someone who was suffering from alcohol dependence would look like. They looked like productive law-abiding citizens. I am embarrassed to say that it never occurred to me that these individuals could live positive lives while battling alcoholism. I assumed that they would be dysfunctional and incapable to participate in the meeting. Instead many of them looked healthy and were eager to engage in the group discussion. We began the meeting by introducing those who are new to AA or those who were visiting from a different group. If a person did not want to introduce themselves, they were not made to do so. The meetings were very calm and were conducted in an orderly fashion. In a support group, the leader should create a safe environment where members can share (Jacobs et al., 2012 p. 43). I felt very comfortable being there and even though I was there as an observer, the group leader always encouraged me to ask questions or comments. Regardless of the topics that were discussed, no one was judgmental. I believe the positive energy I felt while in the group was because everyone truly cared about each other’s sobriety. There was one occasion in the group that I felt changed the momentum of the group because of a conflict. Every Stranger has a Purpose Essay Example For Students

Every Stranger has a Purpose Essay I believe that every stranger comes into your life for a reason. I walk past hundreds and hundreds of people every day. Some are strangers I will never encounter again, and others can be friends, family, or even just someone I put in an effort to smile at. I find myself realizing that it is possible that someone can change from being a stranger to becoming someone very important in your life. The beautiful thing about strangers is you never know what kind of impact they will have on you; whether the person will be romantic or a friend, loving or backstabbing, short or long term. I met this once-upon-a-time stranger about four years ago, during my freshman year of high school. This stranger, Taryn Gettle, started off as a water polo teammate, someone I was forced to see multiple times a day during practice. Becoming best friends with her was easy due to the fact that we have so much in common that we automatically clicked. By spending everyday with her and spending time together on the weekends, it did not take long for us to become so close. Who knew that this stranger would become such an important person in my life. Our friendship is always full of new and exiting adventures such as random day trips to places like Santa Monica and Venice Beach to going skydiving together for the first time in San Diego. We can tell each other everything and anything, and I know that we both will always have each other’s backs. As the four high school years pass by it is now my last twenty-four hours with Taryn. Her new chapter in her life is about to start, as she will be in the Army starting a new life without me by her side. We pull out her black suitcase, check her very short packing list, and gather her belongings. Okay you need two t-shirts,† I said as I stand in her room and watch her pack her stuff in her tiny backpack. Our time together is ticking down, making me want to curl up in a ball and cry. I can’t text, call, share pictures or have any way of communicating with her besides writing handwritten letters. I walk down from her room to her wooden stairs with her as I am already crying. I hop in her white BMW car and she begins to take me back to my house. We are listening to our favorite songs, bobbing our heads to the tunes, and attempting to be as cheerful as possible. As the once twenty-four hours comes to my last five minutes with her, my heart sinks as I think about the idea of not knowing when I will see her next. I will never forget our last hug, as she is not one to enjoy giving hugs. I cry into her arms, knowing this is our goodbye. Taryn Gettle has made me who I am today. I am always my happiest around her, and she is always making me laugh. I do not know what I would have done without such an amazing best friend like her. Words cannot describe our friendship and how much she means to me. She is the one stable person in my life that has been there for me since day one. I believe that each and every stranger that enters your life has entered your life for a special reason. When you make room in your life to let unexpected strangers in, you never know the outcome. My adventures with Taryn blossomed from being strangers to inseparable best friends. Meeting anyone for the first time, whether it’s a forced friendship, a family friend, or someone you randomly bump into, you’ll have no idea of the potential of that relationship. I believe and know that my last goodbye with Taryn will soon be a hello once again.

Insider Essays (1022 words) - Brown Williamson, Films, The Insider

Insider The Insider A dramatization of 1995 events in which the tobacco industry allegedly covered up proof that nicotine is addictive and harmful. When Brown and Williamson executive Jeffrey Wigand (Crowe) tries to expose the industry's cover-up, he is threatened into silence. He eventually gets his story to 60 Minutes producer Lowell Bergman (AL Pacino), but CBS decides against airing it due to political and economic pressures, and the threat of lawsuit from Brown and Williamson. Before we start, I think it's important that you know a little thing about me, and where I'm coming from. I do smoke. But I believe that most of the lawsuits filed against the tobacco industry are unfounded, desperate attempts for people to put the blame on anyone but themselves. I think social security is a safety net for the financially irresponsible. I thought The Insider was a great movie from a strictly entertainment perspective (don't get ahead of me on this one!), and I enjoyed it very much. Russell Crowe is Jeffrey Wigand, a Brown and Williamson VP of Research and Development whose conscience compels him to blow the whistle on the industry. He claims that Big Tobacco has been covering up scientific research that proves nicotine is addictive and harmful. The writing puts a lot of energy into making sure that Wigand is a sufficiently complicated character, and one that we sympathize with. To be sure, he's not entirely one-dimensional. Initially, he does what most of us would do in his position: he takes the money and benefits that the company offers him in return for silence. After all, the guy has a family to look out for. But then Wigand is tortured over his passiveness, wondering if he should take a more aggressive stance with his potentially damaging knowledge. 60 Minutes producer Lowell Bergman, sensing a big story in the works, tries to coax Wigand into talking. An energetic Al Pacino, who fights to get the story on the air, only to have it snuffed by CBS, plays Bergman here. Allegedly, the television network was possibly up for sale around the time of this story, and airing it might have damaged their image with controversy, making it less appealing to potential suitors. This, coupled with the threat of lawsuit from Brown and Williamson, made CBS refuse to air the story. The Insider portrays these events as a crusade on the part of Bergman and Wigand to get the truth out there, against the will of Big Business and Bigger Tobacco. And while Bergman is never portrayed as much more than a journalist with an uncharacteristic amount of integrity, Wigand is a great character to follow as he tries to balance out everything around him. Tortured and sleepless, his reactions are what you would expect from someone forced to choose between the safety of his family with the gravity of what he knows. Most of it makes for edge of your suit viewing. Suspense abounds, and AL Pacino's confrontations with the evil corporate executives, censors, and whatnot are the centerpiece of the movie. He gets to climb up on the soapbox and belt out a few speeches about truth and justice and freedom and right and wrong and all that other fun stuff. It's tense, and it's really quite fascinating, actually. From a dramatic standpoint, this movie couldn't have asked for better performances. Gina Gershon makes an appearance in the movie as a tough, icy corporate attorney for CBS. As a standard caricature of faceless law more interested in money than people, she's fabulous. The Insider runs at over two and half hours, but always remains interesting and never drags. The biggest issue I have with this movie is how it so comfortably passes itself off as an unbiased, historical representation of what happened between real life executive Jeffrey Wigand, real life producer Lowell Bergman, and real life corporation Brown and Williamson. The problem is that the movie is so well crafted and so interesting that it's very easy to accept it as 100% Grade A Truth. However, this is clearly Wigand's story, and closer inspection would reveal that the main characters here are just a little too perfect to be real. Did Bergman really storm into the offices of CBS and rant

The Proper Approach to Writing a Rhetorical Examination

The Proper Approach to Writing a Rhetorical ExaminationAn outstanding rhetorical examination is the outcome that a student desires when they are taking the test. They want to achieve the most impressive result for the kind of essay they choose to write and for the subject matter that they choose to cover. Knowing the correct rhetorical assessment technique can help them accomplish this goal. Before one starts thinking about writing a rhetorical examination, they should first determine what topic they would like to study on. The question of the essay should be relevant to the topic that they choose. For example, if they choose to write an essay on travel, they should determine how they will travel around by using the questions in a rhetorical examination sample essay. The approach that a student uses for writing a rhetorical examination must also be consistent with their objectives for the assignment. For example, if the student wants to learn how to do research, they should ask questio ns about the things that they would like to learn when they go on vacation. They could use questions like: 'How do you make a successful visit to a foreign country?' or 'What are some tips to make the experience more fun?'Also, there are some questions that can be used to form logical parts of the essay. One may ask questions like: 'What is the best way to spend a day on vacation?' or 'What will you remember about the trip?' They could also ask questions about whether to go to a certain destination or if they should visit another part of the country.Next, a student must choose a passage that he or she believes will stand out to other students. To do this, they must think about how the passage can stand out. Some examples of passages include:The passage should be something that will draw the reader's attention to it and to the main idea of the essay. Then, the questions that were asked should relate to the passage. In writing the essay, the reader should have an idea as to what the es say is all about. If it is a survey essay, they should be able to figure out the purpose of the essay fairly quickly. Also, it is helpful to read a variety of essays before the essay is due so that the student has an idea as to how each essay will be structured. When writing the passage, the writer should ask questions about the passage. This can help them to better understand the content of the essay. Also, the writer should be able to see what the main ideas of the essay are.

Pregnancy essays

Pregnancy essays As a teenager, one is faced with many different obstacles that must be overcome. The pressure about school, homework, after school activities, a job, a boyfriend, and family all contribute to what makes up a teenager's stressful life. One important thing that teenagers face is sex. There is an increasingly amount of teenagers having sex at a younger age. If one chooses to have sex, there are consequences that must be thought about in a mature way. At 17-years-old, most people would think a girl is too young to even think about having sex. But with society these days, promoting sexuality, it's not something that's unheard of. There are some girls out there who have sex when they're just beginning their teen years. The seriousness of having sex is usually overlooked when it happens so young. We don't realize the risk involved; you have to worry about contracting an STD or HIV or becoming pregnant. The last thing a girl wants to do is to become pregnant, especially with so many other things to worry about. Some people wait until marriage for religious or their own moral reasons. However, those who choose to have sex before they are married must face the consequences that come their way. In order to prevent pregnancy, using protection and birth control is your best bet. Birth control would be a necessity if you are sexually active. Condoms do prevent pregnancy but there is always the chance of it tearing or some other accident. Also, if you become sexually active, you should make sure that you visit a doctor in order to find out that everything is properly taken care of. Testing your partner for diseases is also a smart idea, just in case he has contracted something he doesn't know about. If a girl does become pregnant, there are a couple options she's able to take advantage of. There is always the way of abortion, which I am completely against. Having an abortion is unfair to the unborn child and the easy way ...

Amish and Modern American Society

Module B: Close Study of Text Text: Witness ‘Witness’, an American film, directed by Australian director Peter Weir, is a film set in 1985 about a clash of modern American society, and an idyllic Amish community. Maeri Saeli describes it as â€Å"the two worlds meet, but never merge† This is shown in the interaction between ideas, characters and techniques that make an impact on the audience. The main ideas represented in this text are Violence versus non-violence/ pacifism versus direct action, relationships, and the clash of cultures. Through exploring these ideas characterisation becomes evident and many techniques are used such as film techniques, symbolism and these can be recognised by analysing scenes. Violence versus non-violence is represented through the clashing of the two cultures and the differences of their cultural values and ideals. The modern American society, where Book is originally situated is evidently a society that uses much violence to achieve things whenever necessary. This type of society is visually implied by Peter Weir as being corrupted, seedy and violent in nature which is shown through darkness, and filming is often conducted under the cover of night, in crowded and cramped spaces, and by using artificial lighting. For example the scene conducted at the Happy Valley night club shows this type of violent and depressive society. Book grabs a suspect from inside the cramped and sordid bar, takes him outside into the night and slams his face into the car window, for Samuel to identify, where we see the shocked faces of Samuel and Rachel who wait inside a light blue car which represents their purity and innocence during this situation and this contrasts with the dark, violent and ‘foreign’ society that surrounds them. As this light coloured car is owned by Book, it is also suggestive that although he uses violence, Book is a good and moral man at heart which is revealed throughout the film. Thus these examples show that this modern American society is one where you cannot ‘judge a book by its cover’ and they allows the audience to observe the individualistic and greedy views of the modern American society. However, this American society is constantly juxtaposed by the peaceful, harmonic nature of the Amish, which seem to have a connection with their land and they possess much morality. They are a completely pacifist society, which means that they do not believe in resorting to violence under any circumstances. Their society is represented by light (natural lighting/daylight), pastel colour schemes, long shots of the sky, barns and open fields, particularly in the opening scenes, and they are shown as a community whereas those in the modern American society are represented as individualistic. Throughout the film, Book develops as a character and learns that violence does not necessarily have to be resorted to under every circumstance. This is specifically shown in the ‘showdown’ scene, when Book is able to disarm Schaeffer by persuasion rather than by violent means, and the Amish community all gather around to bear witness and thus act as an aid in persuading Schaeffer to give in. Witnessing is a reoccurring motif throughout the film and it is reinforced as a basis of the film through the title, as well as the audience who witness the narrative of the film unfold. The symbolism of the ‘gun’ represents the evil and corruption of humans; its creation was by humans and it is now used to kill other humans. This is shown through the corruption of Samuel against the Amish views, as he witnesses the murder, becomes curious of the gun and his corruption is shown ultimately when he states â€Å"I would only kill a bad man†. This scene involves the audience with purpose of raising the issue: who is to decide when a man is bad? This involves the audience as they are able to make their own opinion on the easy corruption of such an innocent and young character. Eli, Samuel’s grandfather is represented as an important mentor and role model for Samuel when he sits down to confront Samuel about the gun, so rather than avoiding the issue of violence and danger that has entered Samuel’s eyes he takes it as an opportunity to educate. The clash of cultures, and the understanding that they can never merge, comes through Book and Rachel’s relationship. The ‘Barn Dancing Scene’ clearly represents how their love is forbidden in the Amish community and that their culture differences could never let them be together, even though they are desperately in love. In this scene, the lyrics of ‘what a wonderful world it would be ’ are played through Book’s car stereo as they dance under the headlights of the car that he has been repairing in the barn – thus there is a juxtaposition here and ‘clash’ of the two worlds which is evident as the car does not look right in the setting of a barn. The lyrics suggest that although their relationship could be wonderful, the WOULD shows that it would never happen under the circumstances. The quick cut editing and close-ups as they dance show their ffection for each other, and the fun that they have in each other’s company, however this is interrupted by a shocked and angry Eli who represents the views of the Amish community and this strengthens the idea of forbidden love. The idea that the two cultures could never successfully cooperate with each other in the long term, and the idea that the Amish society are conformists and value community, and the modern Ame rican society functions under individuality and personal gain, is shown in a scene set in a nearby town of the Amish. When young American ‘rednecks’ insult and wipe ice-cream across Daniel’s face, Book get increasingly angry. However, Eli states to Book, â€Å"it is not our way,† whilst Book replies, â€Å"But it is my way. † The emphasis on OUR and MY represents the two different cultural ideals as well as reinforcing the different views on violence in the societies. Book has been trained to be a cop finds this belief in himself and his justification of violence very hard to deny, thus showing how he could not permanently give up his American lifestyle in order to live with the Amish, to be with Rachel. Although the Amish believe in pacifism, without Book’s help, Samuel would have most probably been murdered by Schaeffer and McFee and this would have caused much more devastation in the Amish community. Therefore the audience, and the Amish community, are thankful for Book’s contribution in the community. This acceptance of Book is shown in the ‘sendoff’ scenes where Eli says â€Å"Be careful among them English† to Book, showing that Book is now recognised as a good, valued man despite their differences and that Eli knows that Book is not the stereotypical ‘Englishman’ that Eli fears but that he is a much deeper and kind person than expected. Throughout the film, it is inevitably shown that Peter Weir possesses many skills in the art of film-making and his use of interaction between ideas, characters and techniques are effective in impacting on the audience.
